Simulation Training Opportunities from WISER

I saw this post from Dr. Phrampus on the INACSL listserve and am sharing it if anyone is interested and has the ability to take advantage of this great opportunity:

WISER at the Univeristy of Pittsburgh in collaboration with the Gordon Center at the University of Miami have created a Healthacare Simulation Instructor Development Program that has been running over the last year. We are training our own intructors as well as making it available to others. In about two weeks, we will have the next one in Pittsburgh, one in Singapore in October and one in Miami in November. More information is available at http://www.wiser.pitt.edu/apps/courses/courseview.asp?course_id=6358 This type of course prepares folks to achieve competence at teaching and facilitating with simulation methods. Then we usually have specific instructor training for new insturctors on the course by course basis, to ensure they master the nuance of the specific program.

Best of luck in your effforts,
-Paul

Newly Published Simulation Articles

Here's some great simulation literature. 2 nursing journals have recently dedicated an entire issue to simulation in nursing education.

The Journal of Nursing Education dedicated their entire Nov 2008 edition to simulation. The first article is Creating a Nursing Simulation Laboratory: A Literature Review. I will be using this information and encourage those getting started to read this article to help you design your simulation lab - along with the rest of the journal of course.

The National League of Nursing also just published all simulation articles in their March/April 2009 journal Nursing Education Perspectives.

Enjoy!

Clinical Simulation link

I would like to share another site as a resource. www.nursingsimulation.org which is the home site of The International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL). The journal for this group is not indexed yet, so joining the group to get to the articles is what I did. There are some great articles!!
